    Foreign Income (short term)

Individual was unemployed and went out of country for about 90 days and made $7K and was taxed ~$2K.

He doesn't qualify for bone fide resident or physical presence to exclude the income. There are expenses incurred while away (housing, tools, vehicle, required safety equipment, etc.), some business related some just the cost of getting to and staying in a foreign country.

Can the business expenses be included on Sched C and netted with the business related expenses? Or is it just Other Income and unreimbursed employee expenses? The taxes will be included on the Form 1116.

    Thanks.

    Se?

Was he an employee or self employed? Also, did you calculate his foreign tax credit, what's that Form 1116?

Ooops! It looks like I hit submit in mid-sentence!

He actually worked for a company while out of country.

And yes, I was calculating the tax credit on the Form 1116.
