You are not alone with little boo boos like that. Last year I had parents who were to
claim their son, but he had income and tax for a refund, so his return would be S and
    0.

It was late in the afternoon, and after they left I sent the efiles. However I had
forgotten to check the box on son's return indicating someone else would claim him,
his return hit IRS computers first, and their's rejected. They were not happy with
having to file the old fashioned way by paper return.

Glad to say, though, that although they were not pleased last year, they did
return this year. So then, it may be dark now, but a brighter day is coming.

Just to let you know I'm with BHoffman -- you're an excellent accountant, you've posted lots of wonderful information here, and you have the respect of your peers -- if not the feeling in those two numb fingers.

It's unsettling to hear of your dilemma 'cause you always strike me as tough as nails. If you are stressed-out, then I probably need to go shoot myself. Anyway, for what it's worth, your friends here like you and wish you the best -- go see that massage therapist the day after tomorrow (or maybe call up your ex and give 'im a cussin' on principle ).

You are just tired and sore and need some R & R. Please just brush those little crappy mistakes off. We all make them.

Someday I'll fully explain the doozy I did last year
Can't say it any better than all the above posters - you are fantastic! Keep that chin up - one more day - and then get that R & R you much need! I'm pullin' for you!!!!!

You've helped me get my mind right several times when I went down a rabbit trail, so I know you're a top-notch pro. If this is your bigggest mistake of the season then I envy you. (I had to redo one return TWICE this year, both times after I'd given it to the client and she caught my mistakes. I'm surprised she paid me - she should have sent ME a bill for consulting work).

Hang in there and don't let the last minute stress get to you.

Joan - See? We are so concerned that our posts are repeating themselves. A three banger from JohnH, no less. What more could anyone want?

Just as I posted my note, I got a "server problem" message so I shut things down and went to bed. Got up this morning to find it had posted 3 times, so I deleted two of them.

                  Yeah, Joan

Hang in there, girl! The one for which I just got an extension? I did the SAME thing last year as you did. Thought they wouldn't be back, but they are. And, I just remembered I don't have somebody's payroll tax figured, and they are gonna meet me at the door this morning, only to be sent away to come back later.

Anyhow, I like BB's tip on the cussin the ex. I'm about to go to mediation myself, and could use some tips from you for the PMS. (Post Mediation Smackdown.)

I think it was you this time last year with the yard problem. What a post! Thanks to you, I will get 3 - 4 square bales off my front yard alone along about Memorial Day. You are my hero, Joan!

All kidding aside, you are in our prayers today, Joan. We got your back, girlfriend.

If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

                      Chin up joanmcq

YOu will make it through the day. There are some posts that I always read and yours are in that group. Your knowledge helps us on this board more than you will ever know.

Had a client who has always been Schedule C that became an s corp last year. I keep telling them I am working on their return. She calls me twice this morning. I tell her that I will do my best to be finished with their return today. She calls me back to see if they have done something to make me mad at them or upset with them because I am taking so long on their return. So I "again" explained that with an s corp, I have to enter every transaction on the bank statements in the bookkeeping program so that I can get an accurate report from which to prepare their tax return. I have already spent probably 5 or 6 hours and am only done with 6 months of bookkeeping. It just takes time. She didn't understand that. But they sold their business property and they will owe money and are worried about how much they will owe. I understand. Hopefully she does too now.

On top of that my 89 year old mother is redoing her kitchen and I have to listen while she talks through the whole process, which I really don't mind helping her. This morning she talked about 20 minutes about which dishwasher to buy. But if you have it together enough to be doing that at her age, more power to her. I have to finish her return enough to tell her how much to mail today for estimated payment.

We will all make it through the day. I will need a pitcher of Sangria when this is done this year.

This board and all of you people who post are my lifeline, especailly during tax season.

                      Linda

I took some time off for a movie. It was called "I am Sam." What i saw was a man without extraordinary ability attempting to do the extraordinary. And that caused me to burst in to tears.

So anyhow i was right there with you if that means anything.

BTW, the mistake you describe is extremely minor compared to other mistakes that we've seen. I'm sure others would agree.

there was an actor (don't remember which one) who said, "he appreciated his fans, but to be recognized by his peers was most valuable to him"
