    Return with no EIN

    A partnership tax return has to be filed without an EIN. Can we attach the Form SS-4 to the tax return and send it in without an EIN (by putting 'applied' at the space for the EIN)?

      That's the way we used to do it.

      But I spec times have changed and IRS wants things separated.

      With client in the office with you, you may apply for the EIN online and receive it
      immediately. Then the 1065 can be properly filed by due date.
