    Children Social Security

    Need Help.
    Father Disabled, Child 17 yrs old draws Social Security.
    Does the S.S. goes on the parents return? Childs return? or not at all?

    What SS number

    is on the child's statement? Parent? Child?. Normally, I don't put it anywhere unless the child has taxable income.

      Which SS #

      If the child is the one receiving the Social Security, then there should be a 1099-SSA with the child's SS on -- it is the child's income, not the father's. Take a look at whether the child needs to file a return. It is possible that a 17yo has a job so then the SS income would need to be considered with that income. If the 17yo has no other income besides SS, then no return is likely needed at all.

        SS. on children

        The childs SS # is on the SS Statement and she does not have any income. So.
