    Hawaii State Tax Return

I have a Taxpayer that was a resident of California and married a resident of Hawaii.
She then moved to Hawaii and is now a Hawaii resident.

I have California part year for wages to move date as Single - 6 months

I have Hawaii which consists of the husband - Hawaii full year resident and the "new" wife 6 months Hawaii. no wages, but a distribution from retirement during the Hawaii residency.

I am having difficulty in entering in my software.

Use N-11 or N 15 form and do allocation?

While Hawaii will tax the 401K distribution, it does not appear that there is a penalty for premature distribution. -She meets the age 55 separation of service from the California Employer and not rolled over.

    Thanks,

    Sandy

You can do a fed MFJ and a Hawaii MFS, or even both states.
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.
