Does anyone know how to get the one-time penalty relief from IRS?

Could you be referring to the late payroll tax deposit exception?

        I know of two....

......: 1 is first time 941 filers that have crossed over into a new deposit requirement and 2 is the late payment penalty for failure to deposit timely but over the next 12 months all deposits with done through EFTPS and were timely.

          for income taxes

I think there is a one time penalty relief for personal income tax.

So we all get one year off from paying taxes?

            Cool...never heard that one before.

Bees, come on. No one was talking about not paying taxes.

I know there is something out there. I have used it for one client but didn't keep a copy of the letter from the IRS on file. I tried an internet search but was not able to find this information.

I would call the IRS on this one, several times if necessary, until you find somebody who knows.

                Not looking nit up but,

penalties are meant to be used for people who refuse to follow the instructions repeatedly. If you can show that usally had filed OK and the system would work normally-word it better than that-then penalties will be abated. I just saw it used for a failure to file an extension and it even refers to the Rev Proc. If I have time I will try to find.
