I am trying a few of my returns in TaxAct. At the bottom of most of the screens is a "Back" button to close that scrren and take you back in the return. My question: Is there a short cut key to take you back or to close the current screen? The page up or down does not work.

Just hit the "Forms" button and you will then be able to navigate anywhere. I really like TaxAct. I believe I have been using it since 1999. I even used it in 1994, 1995 and possibly 1996....when it went by the name of Parson's Technology or Personal Tax Edge.
I have a full time job as a controller and do over 100 returns out of my house on the side. Taxact does everything I need to do and I get all states and unlimited e-filing for $570. The last few years I have used their business software at my day job to do some related entity 1065s and 1120S returns. It also works well and is priced right! Once you learn your way around the 1040 version, the 1065 and 1120S work the same.Last edited by Ross; 03-26-2010, 01:40 PM.

If you are working in
the forms entry method you can just hit the X at the top right of the form and you will go back one. Or you can open any form from the left pane.
I gave up on TaxAct this year. Just too many problems with it and E-Filing. Too many returns screwed up by the program.
And in the end with their cost to efile on top of the program cost it is just as cheap to use Drake, which is 1000 times better.
I used TaxAct for several years at home to do many returns and just finally gave up on it.AJ, EA

If I only did Form 1040s, I might use TaxAct.
