Straddles

I was hoping to find something in plain english about straddles - there's no index entry in the tax book.
other than pub 550, can anyone suggest a simplified overview of tax reporting for straddles?

You might try searching: http://www.fairmark.com/index.htm

They are fairly comprehensive on investing. Search the forum for straddles, it might be complicated, but far easier to understand than the IRS explanations.

Have you looked at pages 57 - 62 of Pub 550 and the instructions on form 6781?

You can complete the form 6781 and that form will split the resulting reportable gain or loss to the short and long term gains.
