I have a retired pastor friend who owned and lived in his home 2008. I don't know how ling he owned it, but the point is, he did live in his own home within the last three years. He built a new home in 2009 and moved in well before Nov 6. His tax preparer (I'm not the guilty one here), told him he qualifies for the long-time homebuyers credit. What am I missing? If he lived in his previous dwelling five out to the last eight years, to qualify for a long time homebuyer credit, doesn't he have to move in (or buy) after Nov 6, 2009?
