    gifts to sons

    In 2009:

    Gift to Son A $2000
    Gift to Son B $2000

can taxpayer use this for any purpose on tax return?

I think not, but client has used in past years and this is the first year I have done his return, just need to have assurance I am correct!

    You know,

I'm guilty of shooting from the hip far too often, but..........there,s no way I could imagine a taxpayer getting some kind of credit on his return for a gift to his son, unless the son is a charitable organization.

I am really curious how he has used this in the past. Do you care to share?
