    Missionary.....1099misc

So the client recieves a 1099 misc from a local church and says that he was employed at a christian camp but now the camp let him go and the church is supporting him to do the same thing he use to do there as an employee. After further questions he said that the church is supporting him and he is now a missionary to this christian camp.

First does this seem right and secondly do I just do a sch c for this income and what can he write off? He may have some mileage and miminal cost but not much.. Any direction would be greatly appericated. One other note he is not a minister or pastor ordained by any church .

If he does not qualify as a dual-status pastor for tax purposes (and I am not sure that he doesn't...not enough info) then just handle him like an employee or self-employed. My guess is he if he is not a pastor that he should be considered an employee. Just review the normal determination rules and that should set you up okay.
