    Legal Expense for Estate

Taxpayer's mother passed away and son is in charge of handling the affairs of the estate (along with an attorney). He paid $2000 out of his own funds to pay part of the legal fees. Would this be deductible on his schedule A?

Sounds to me he paid it for the estate and should get reimbursed by the estate. Happens all the time...I suspect. From your post it does not appear to be his legal responsibility.

You are correct. He should have the estate reimburse him. It is an estate expense, not his. The estate deducts.
