Just because clients brought them it today, ... Uh.. Did you check the date on the IRS
    letter?

We all have clients who save the envelopes from IRS and bring them in next time they see us, i.e. tax season, so we can use OUR letter openers to see what's in them.

But to answer your question, Yes, you may vent. After all, you're among friends here.

How true. And not just IRS envelopes -- can be anything remotely tax related. I unsealed several envelopes this week with currently due real estate tax bills inside. Do they think opening their own mail will let a genie out of a bottle or something?

The ones I get a kick out of are envelopes I open and there is a check to the
        client.

          Irs Error Regarding Schedule M

A client received a letter from IRS which increases his schedule M credit by $ 250
because he meets the qualifications for the credit for Certain Government Retires as
outlined on line 11. In this case the taxpayer received the $250 economic recovery
payment. The form itself and TTB-1-16 says: "The credit is NOT allowed if the eligible
taxpayer received a $250 economic recovery payment during 2009. IRS is wrong!
I am not going to argue with them.

            Direct Deposit

Just had a client call and say their refund has not shown up. I checked the website for them and it said depoisited on 3/12 but it still has not shown up yet. Now all of a sudden it is my fault that the money is not in the bank because they wrote a check out on the money and have alread spent it!! I'm sure to buy something worthwhile like a new car or flat screen with their EIC money. You know if you have it why save it when you did not have to work for it.

I guess I will see what happens I know this will not be the last I hear of them.

              Well, THIS is embarrassing

I had a client bring one in today, too. He had just gotten it. I left interest income off the 2008 return. I got out my file, and THERE WAS MY COPY OF THE 1099-INT. I apologized (a lot, actually) and gave him cash to cover the interest charged. THAT was embarrassing.

And, no, the timing is not the greatest.

If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Wrote a check before he knew the money was in the bank. Gives new meaning to my
                slogan below.

                  Pain survey

How bad does your back hurt during tax season, scale from 1 to 10?

I'm looking at around 7 today

You must not have one of those big chairs with massage built into it. Would that not be ordinary and necessary?

                    LT
Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

Seven on the left, six on the right. I am right handed. Moved mouse to left 17 months ago. Now THAT'S not working.

I need a massage. And 10 hours of sleep.

Never, ever, (knock on wood) have I had back pains. At some times in the past I might have
a certain sudden pain shooting down a leg, something about pinched nerve I think. Most
recent was back about 2008. But since I had the opportunity to go into the very center of an Egyptian pyramid back in Oct 2008, haven't had any trouble since. There IS something to that concept of pyramid power after all.

One time before I canceled the mule ride to bottom of Grand Canyon because of said never
pain, but this coming august I just might do it after all on my trip out west.

                          Oh, yeah

Non-profit just got an audit notice from State of TN Dept of Labor. Biggest company I have, 2008 audit. Unbelieveable timing. They want EVERYTHING.

New pain rating: 11. Entire body.

Does going to the center of the Cholula Pyramid in Mexico count, or does pyramid power only count if it's an Egyptian pyramid?
