    Colored Envelopes

What does it mean when the envelope to the left of the thread title is colored orange rather than blue?

    Envelopes and Color

Bart, if you go to the bottom of your screen under "Threads in Forum," then under "display", you will see several "envelopes" with an explanation.

      Envelopes

Bright color is "hot." Think it gets hot at ten replies. Cooler color is fewer replies. You probably guessed the open and closed. (Sandy gave you the best advice, but I'm upping my posts while I have time!)

        Posts

Well Lion you and I both are now members, I am at somewhere around 60 and you are at 39. I have no idea what the next level is if any!

But it is fun and a challenge!

        Glad you are here!

          Envelope with an arrow

          Bart,
Color means something, like hot topic, as Lion advised. Also an envelope with an arrow means you have posted to it at some point.

If you see a padlock on the envelope, the subject matter is closed and you can no longer post.

If you see papers sticking up out of the envelope means there are new posts in the thread. If the envelope has no color and papers sticking out of the top, it is a brand new thread, otherwise if it is orange with papers, it is a topic being discussed.

Pictures are worth a thousand words!

While we're on the subject; I notice that when you are sign in the color ball by your name changes color, it is Green when your sign on or online and blue/gray when your sign out or offline.

              Message read

By the way: How can I see which messages I read already?

                Read or unread

I use the hybrid with the tree. The envelopes on the tree are blue when read and orange/manila envelopes when not yet read. Then I know which ones to scroll down to. Don't know how it works without the tree, though.
