Have any California preparer's seen where Calif State Teachers Retirees received the
$ 250 recovery payment.

I have had one client say they did and I was able to clear efile,

now I have two retirees arguing with me they didn't receive the payment.

None of these retiree's are on Social Security

CA teachers do not pay into SS so unless they have other qualified retirement they would not have gotten the stimulus payment.

Sandy, I haven't seen that but ones with SS and CSTP got the $250 only from SS. I am so glad about this new phone number. I don't call everytime, but probably should since the VA $250 can come up without even knowing the client has VA income. One client told me he didn't even think of mentioning it because all VA is non taxable. That was before the phone number and it was one of those rejects.

until we had a couple different Ohio teachers in the same boat. Received only STRS and received the stimulus payment. The only other qualifying thing for them is the fact that they are old enough to be on Medicare!! No where does it say Medicare will qualify for the payment, but it must. We have had more than one and this is the only common denominator we can find after talking to all the parties involved.
Thank goodness we now have the phone number to call. And it does work. Both of my teachers last week that are only on STRS and medicare got the payment, the ones not old enough for Medicare did not.

I was thinking the same thing, except Friday, I had a STRS retiree on Medicare, no SS and She DID NOT receive the $ 250 payment, so qualified for the Govt Retiree Credit on the Tax Return and it cleared efile.

I have another a couple more to prepare, so I will try the phone # and see.
