    No Social Security Withheld

Have a 23 year old student that worked for a University. W-2 Line 1 is $1605. But they did not deduct FICA or Medicare. I called the university they say they never
withhold FICA from student employees. This is the first one of these I have seen.
Do I fill out a SE schedule and have him pay the tax? Any help would be appreciated.

No, you're good to go. See TTB 5-18:

"A student of any age working for a school... exempt from FICA...if student attends classes..."

Edit: Bob, you are one fast typist.

If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

            Learning

It just goes to show you are never too old to learn.
This forum is great and you don't get hit over the head because of dumb questions.

Hey arlo, don't sweat it. I see something new to me all the time. I love that people on here don't treat me like a moron if I don't know everything.

Edit: OK, I see that you know this, too. What's up with the lightening speed on the typing today? LOL.

I will be 74 years old this coming July and I did not know that either.
My problem is that I am forgetting what I once knew.

A day that I do not learn something is a day wasted. But then I am only 64 years old with only 29 years in the tax business.

I recently posted that the IRS has issued final regulations about Medical Interns and Residents being exempt from FICA and Medicare Taxes. http://www.irs.gov/charities/article...219545,00.html

I'm not in my 70's but I sure do cherish "my people" no matter what the age!
