    positive phone call with collections

I just talked to a very nice lady in collections. Client has not filed since 2000. IRS did a 2001 return and billed him for a lot of money since he was a truck driver then.
Some years he didn't work and some years he had a little income. I have the returns done. She was extremely helpful in telling me where to file and how to do it so collections get the information. She even cautioned me about the statute of limitations on the 2001 return and to look at the best advantage to the client if we redo the return.

Just thought I would share something positive for today.

The higher up the food chain you go with the IRS the better. I had a client that owed a bunch from almost 10 years ago and just a little over the last few years. The collections agent was willing to tell me exactly when the collection statute would expire on the old balance so the T/P could do an installment agreement on the more recent balances.
In other words, a democratic government is the only one in which those who vote for a tax can escape the obligation to pay it.
