Wrong DD info How long for IRS to mail refund

Had a client who confirmed their banking information with us, a few days later he changes his bank due to not being able to get a loan. Well, the IRS tried to direct deposit the refund and it was returned to them.

My question: Does anyone know how long it takes for the IRS to process a paper check in this situation and mail it out? In the past it used to take 6-8 weeks.

Thanks in advance for any insight. This client has called numerous times and honestly, we don't know what to tell him. It's not our fault but we want to try to help him. The state of Indiana got a check to him about two weeks longer than the direct deposit would have taken.

Did you check the online refund status?

I had a similar situation and the direct deposit was suppose to be on 2/12 so we checked and the online status had it set to be mailed on 02/26, if not received by 3/26 call ###-###-####. That is much quicker than in past years.
