LPN Nurse to RN Education Credit

I have a client that received a student loan and paid 5400 of qualified education expense. Her LPN gave her approx a Asso Degree. I think the best credit to give is the American Op credit. Does anyone see an issue with this.

1. Did the place that trained her as an LPN give her a diploma that said "Associate of Science"?

2. Two people enrolled in the RN program she entered. One was fresh out of high school and the other was your LPN client. If both studied continuously full time, how much faster did your client finish?

If one is yes then you're clearly right and there's no reason to consider question two.

If one is no then in order for you to be right the answer to two would have to be "Four complete semesters." If the answer to one is no and the answer to two is that they would finish at the same time then your client has four full time semesters to be treated as in her first two years. She loses a semester of this treatment for every semester by which she is going to finish faster than the other student under consideration.

Consider this - one path to an RN involves getting only an AS Degree. This person will always work the lower sorts of RN jobs than someone with a BSN would expect to eventually reach but they''re still an RN. (This is similar to the fact that there are EAs like me who handle only simple to moderately complex returns and then there are EAs who are highly powered Tax Practitioners handling anything any CPA or Tax Attorney can handle including testimony before Congress.)
