I had a good chuckle when I filled in my mom's tax return (she's 84). She is not required to file, but I need the info to fill in her MN Property Tax Refund later in the season so I normally plug in her stuff and I had a slow hour. I filled in the fed return, jumped over to the M1 and it showed a $25 refund. It came from that "Lower Income Motor Fuels Tax
Credit". She has never driven a day in her life!! I wouldn't be worth my time to file a return for non-relatives just to get a $25 refund.I never gave too much thought about that credit being a refundable freebie credit though.
