    Roth recharactization

Client made a Roth 2005 contribution August 12, 2005. He started drawing Social Security in 2005-a traditional IRA is basicly 50% subsidized by the Fed and the land of 10,000 lakes. He has called Vanguard and they whined, but are sending out the paperwork to do recharacterzation(sp). 8606 has some information, but I do not really see where the rechar. shows up. I currently have recorded it as a traditional getting the deduction. Is there something I should be doing at on the 8606-currently Ultra Tax entries seem to net information out to $0. Is it me or OK......

Well, you never do anything with a Roth contribution on the tax return in the first place. So if you recharacterize a Roth contribution as a traditional IRA contribution, you simply report it on the 1040 like any other traditional IRA contribution.

    Just do it.
