    Zip Code Of Canada???

Have a client that has 10 states and one W2 does not have a zip code of Canada on it. I have sent it twice and twice got rejected because of that one zip code. Software told me to mail it.

Well, I will have to mail the whole thing:10 states and the 1040 and that to me is nonsense just because of a zip code!

Has anyone been up THIS road before and can I get a zip code for Toronto, ON anywhere? They said Canada does not have zip codes. Does anyone know this is true?

It is going to be a nightmare of all paperwork to mail everything over somthing so simple as a ZIP CODE.

    Canada had postal codes

they are six digits and combine alpha and numeric. I know the area around Camlachie, Ontario is NONIEO. The Toronto area would probably have several.
    Hope this helps

          Canadian Postal Code

Which address on the W-2 is in Canada?

          The employer or the employee?

Hate to rain on your parade...Toronto would have thousands of postal codes.

Are you able to Google Canadian address and search for postal code through that means?

                      Another thing you might try

SueBaby, I remember one year I had a weird W-2 situation and I wound up not entering that W-2 on the normal input screen. I overrode the applicable lines on the return, income and withheld tax, so that the return was correct. I realize with 10 states that will be a lot of work, so hopefully it won't come to that. The e-file did go through.
If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Enter the street address, then go to the zip code line . The drop down arrow wil let you look at all the zipe codes that you can use. I think there is one for foreign countries.
Sorry, I am not in the office otherwise I would have given you a definite answer.

I put the address in and came up with a postal code M2J 5C2 Maybe this will work. How crazy does this look.

Thank you so much; my nightmare has been tons of paperwork to print off and mail and I certainly did not charge enough to do that or spend this much time on one return.

See if this will go in and thanks so much for this, it is better than what I had. I will let you know. THANKS EVERYONE and have a good day. After this I want to close office and do something FUN. NOT

                            What Software?

Did you tell us what software you use? You may have a country code to input or FA for foreign address that lets the software know it's not a US zip code in that field, or allows you to skip that field. Did you choose Help when on that field in your software, to see what codes you have to chose from. What happened when you were on the State field? Once your software knows it's a Province, then it should accept a Canadian postal code.

I use Drake and put a period in the state (which is foreign) but came back rejected because blank in zip code. Found the postal code so maybe if I put that in the address they will let it go.

Four rejections just trying to put different things different places and like I have time to spend on a zip code. Why can't taxes be easy? I laugh so I want cry.
