My Biz
I just notice, later document reporting being received by Tax Client, so have not received too many returns this week, but now the inquiries are hitting the email, phone and fax, so documents on their way. I don't have
"walk-in" business (basic 1040 clients) , mostly 90% repeat clients that I have prepared for years and business clients. So appointments and clients forwarding info via email, fax and "snail mail"

Prepared 15 1040 clients today, 11 Friday and Saturday. Other associate prepared 8 today, 7 Friday and Saturday. Our numbers are up for 1040 type clients also. We located in a military town, and many of our clients are able to download their W-2's from mypay and get a jump on filing. The more difficult returns will start around the middle to end of February and there will be no breathing from that point forward.Gary B., E.A.

In January of every year I start thinking business is down and "Are they going to come in?" Also get to worrying that this year will be the year when business goes to pot.
And it never happens. I just checked and we're actually up in client count compared to this time last year (we keep up with it by dates).
So, I always say I'm not going to worry about it next time -- but...who can stop worrying abou such things?
Anyway, it looks okay now and yours probably soon will too.

I can see how it can be seen that way. No apologies necessary. All I know is that from the time I go in the office at 7:30 am until I leave at 5'ish, I'm busy and can't get any catch up work done now. Hope you have a prosperous season Bob.Gary B., E.A.

I went from a office & staff to working at home, last year and this year. Hard to see a pattern yet. I am still getting my office ready. But today while at a funeral, I had my phone on vibrate, I vibrated the whole service, had 7 people call for appointments. People are starting to get their W-2's.

But I like the money, so I don't want to drop too far.............I'm trying to just take on referrals with very little new "off the street" newbies. Over the last 3 years I've dropped 100 1040 client and 5 SCorps (out of business). Life is easier but where will it end. I'm still doing 430 1040 and 50 entities, mostly SCorps.
I think I will break below 400 1040s this year and lose another 4-5 Scorps. This post is for discussion purposes only and should be verified with other sources before actual use.

I've had several calls asking if I will be able to do their return again this year. They then say they will call back when they get all their information. So I am thinking that most people have not got all their tax info yet. I expect it to hit the fan next week. Going with my Mom to the doctor this week before it gets so busy I can't leave. I am about finished up on payroll returns. Plus I have done around 6 1040s so far.

Number of returns are down from last year. So far appears to be a slowness in getting W-2s, etc. Our state is voting on more taxes today, and the government has been telling everyone to hold off on filing until the results are known since it is a retroactive tax if passed. But it doesn't affect 90% of the 2009 returns, GRRRR!"A man that holds a cat by the tail learns something he can learn no other way." - Mark Twain
