    Hsa - 1099s

Clinet has 1099S for HSA. I have not seen it yet. Do I need to do anything?

    Is it deductable anywhere?

    Thanks

    Yes

I had one the other day, my first. You need to fill this out on Form 8889. You will need to know the contributions (employer or employee) and put that in the appropriate place, add the medical expenses paid. My software is pretty straightforward with this form. Just follow the fields and you should be OK. You may or may not get an adjustment on the front of the 1040, forgot the line. Sorry.

Also, if it's a joint account, you will have to fill out a second 8889, Part II for the spouse.

Please don't be upset. I'm not! I meant to email you and tell you things were OK, but I just forgot.

I was filling in the form incorrectly and geekgirldany suggested I put in the medical expenses (silly me!!). I did and it worked like a charm.

There will be plenty of things I'll need help on in the future, so you're not off the hook just yet!
