Forgive me, I really don't like to post off-tax topic, but might I add that it's not just the charities that make claims of their own efficiency, but reliable independent organizations that rate charities so you can make an informed choice. Cheers!

Sorry, when I re-read my rapid post I realized it sounded a bit too cranky. I absolutely agree that it's important to check out lesser-known organizations through reliable third-party evaluators. (Personally I like Guidestar) Seeing some of the stuff that comes across my desk at tax time, I wish some of my clients would heed that suggestion. I'm sure all of you see the same thing.

I went on line and donated to another organization. BUT, I heard (and I am not really sure of the figures) that the first 6 days of the texting donations, that they received 6 Million Dollars a day. You can be sure they will use this method in the future. I have a feeling that most of this came from young adults, that probably never donate to much of anything. I am glad they are learning the value of giving.

The Salvation Army is my usual charity and will be where most of my contributions will go. This one was recommended to me by a good friend who had his knee replacement delayed because his Ortho surgeon went to help out.

My guess is tomorrow as soon as he can get the press together.

                I like that!

There was likely some delay at the outset because they had to sort out which legislators were due bribes to get them to vote for it. They each have to take their turn at the trough, you know.
