    E-file Form 5695

Proseries is not yet allowing for efile of this form as "Form 5695 is not yet finalized". Does anyone know if this is an IRS issue or a Proseries issue?

The residential energy credit appears to be functioning correctly in my Drake Tax Software and
the return is ready to be electronically filed with the form 5695..

It mabe ready to file, but that doesn't mean the IRS is going to process it yet. Our UltraTax does not have it ready yet either. I spoke with someone and was told that the IRS hasn't authorized that form for e-file yet.

Is there a someplace to obtain information as to which forms are efile acceptable vs. which forms are not yet ready for efile through the IRS?

I thought this form had issues a few years ago too, along with the 8863, I don't remember the specifics but they couldn't be efiled until the middle of February.

When the 8863 issue was there they had an e-alert for the delayed forms. They also had IRS reject codes for the forms sent before the IRS was ready, in Pub 1346.

I haven't seen anything about the 5695 being delayed. It's on the list of accepted forms - http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=204167,00.html

by ready to file do you mean that you tried to file it and it worked. I think that is where you will get the message that requires you to delay the filing.
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.

                  Ready to File

My software indicated my practice return was READY to FILE with no error messages
after claiming the residential energy credit. This is a TEST RETURN which I use for
various tax scenarios. I will NOT be filing this return. I suppose it is possible that an
error message will be generated if I attempted to electronically file the return.

It seems much more likely that this is a software issue, not an IRS issue. No IRS rejection codes in Pub 1346. Nothing in e-alerts about the form not being ready.

The form itself has a Jan 8 revision date. So not all software companies have likely been able to get it in yet. Especially if they have other issues they consider more important. I think they worry more about making sure the EIC and such is ready to go at this point, while forms like 5695 get pushed back - by the software company.

I sent one through Drake yesterday. I will post this afternoon if it was accepted or not.
