My client, with the help of all his family, built a small house in 2009 on land that he already owned. The credit was substantially lower than the maximum $8000. We sent in copies of the 2008 property tax assessment and the 2009 assessment showing the home added. IRS denied and asked the client to fax in more info. He did, waited about 2 months, then called them. He was told that they had gotten it but it was still on the desk where it came in and had not been transferred to its destination point. He is to call them again at the end of this month. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I am sending everything possible right up front to avoid further correspondence.
A couple clients are irritated by the extra proof requested, however I try to explain this is a hefty chunk of money they are giving you and there is a lot of fraud involved, so consider this as a little work for $8,000, and in addition you'll receive interest on the delay.
