Exemption for 28 year old son

A single mother has a 28 year old son who is total and permanentally disabled. The son lives with the mother. The son's only income for 2005 was $3,500 from Social Security and $3,600 from SSI. Can the mother claim the son as a dependent for 2005?

Most certainly and she also qualifies for the EIC She also files HOH
Everybody should pay his income tax with a smile. I tried it, but they wanted cash

Assuming the son didn't pay over 1/2 of his own support. See TTB page 3-15.
