    Louisiana Client

New client, moved from LA to Tx in April, 2005. Prior to Hurricane Katrina.
Client has a W-2 from La. where she worked while there.
After moving to Texas from Louisiana client withdrew funds from her 401(k) plan.
Is this 401(k) withdrawal taxable on her La. state return? There were no state or
    federal withholding on this.
Thanks for your help on this one.

    Louisiana tax

Well, I don't know the answer to that one (of course), but I do have a few 2005 LA state tax books that I ordered in a couple of months ago. Here's a couple of those state phone numbers from them that might direct you to somebody who does know.

    225-219-7318

    225-219-0102

They had a toll-free number (888-829-3071), but all it offered was one of the above numbers and forms, refund info, etc.

What State is listed in box 11.If is says LA then it will be added to LA's income
Everybody should pay his income tax with a smile. I tried it, but they wanted cash

says, State/Payers State No./ Louisiana, then gives the state No.
I was assuming that this meant it was paid by a LA. company, to
          someone residing in TX.
In most instances my assumptions are incorrect, however.

Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto LA what is LA's.

            Add it to LA's income

            Good luck

                  LA displaced residents

If a client is in another state due to displacement and they are planning on returning to LA their are a LA resident. If there are no plans to return to La they will become the resident of the state they chose to reside and all income will be taxed as a LA nonresident that was earned in LA
