    First Time Home Buyer - New Wrinkle

    Man and woman buy house in Jan 2010. He qualifies for the $8,000 credit and she qualifies for the $6,500 credit. What I think is the maximum that can be claimed is $8,000 and can be split anyway we want as long as she does not take more than $6,500, as she is entilted to up to $6,500. Any disagreement?

              There is also the 10% of the purchase price limit and anyother limitations that might apply.

              If you do this you should include note about how the credit was split and who it was split with.
