    Solo 401K

Many brokers advertise that the Employer contributions to a solo 401K are deductable. Would this only be in the case if you employeed your spouse? (Schedule C filers) I have been interested in these plans but to date have not run across them.

See TheTaxBook Small Business Edition, page 28-1 under "Where To Deduct Qualified Pension Plan and IRA Contributions.

Under Schedule C, Sole Proprietors, the line that says "Employer contributions and elective deferrals made on behalf of the sole proprietor, " it says to deduct it on Form 1040, line 28, Self-employed SEP, SIMPLE, and qualified plans.
