    Auto Sales Tax

From what I can tell, the standard deduction for 2009 can be increased by the sales tax on a NEW car.

For those who purchase USED cars, the sales tax can still be deducted on Schedule A under "Taxes" unless the taxpayer elects to deduct state income tax instead. This was the case in 2007 and 2008, and I would like to know whether it is the case in 2009 also.
