    Here are the results of a survey by the National Society of Accountants regarding the average costs for a variety of different scenarios.

    A biennial survey by the National Society of Accountants found that the cost of preparing an itemized Form 1040 with a Schedule A and a state tax return averages $229.

      Not bad considering that buying the software to DIY can be that much or more.

          Wait a minute! AR, OK, WV, UT, ID, MT, and WY, preparers charge more than CT preparers!!! It's time my colleagues around here in the northeast raised our rates!

              in waiting room for clients to see those "average" figures of $229 and $ 129!

              Of course I've always thought that I was working for peanuts. It's about time to raise my
              fees to the "cashew" level, but never to the macadamia level.
