"Long-time" homebuyer credit

    "Long-time" homebuyer credit

    I have a client who settled on a new home in October 2009. Am I right in assuming that he cannot take the long-time homebuyer credit?

      You are correct. It had to close on or after Nov. 6, 2009.

          Why didn't you advise him to wait a month?............................................ ....................

          Ha, Ha, just kidding...I seemed to receive that response with the energy credits that expired 12/31/07. Some clients brought in receipts for the windows and doors and I'd try to explain not for 2008 but they're back for 2009. If only we had known we could have planned!!!!
