I Switched From Atx And Went With Trx Alliance This Year. When I Installed The 2008 Version On My Computer It Was A Nightmare!!!!! I Spent Hours On The Phone With Tech Support, Was Told My Computer Needed To Be Reformatted And Several Screen Shares Caused Me To Have Problems With Other Software, But Finally It Was All Resolved My Computer Issues Were Fixed (i Think) And The 2008 Is Now Working. This Is The Taxwise Version. I Got A Phone Call From Them Offering Me The Trx Pro 1040 For No Extra Charge If I Tell Them Before 2009 Ships. I Understand The The Pro 1040 Is Better Software, But I Am Leary Since I Had All The Problems Before, But Then I Wonder If I'll Get 2009 And Have The Same Problem Installing The Taxwise Version.

For the record, I swear by Taxwise. So I've never tried the TRX generic software.

However..... I did "switch" to TRX back in the summer for their $300 fee and was promised I would get Taxwise with more feature in it that I was previously getting unless paying more dollars to Taxwise.

Last month, in a phone call from Taxwise who had noticed my switch, they promised me
same program (their own of course) I had signed up for with TRX at no added charge.
When I told them that TRX said they had another five year contract to distribute Taxwise, this was flatly denied by Taxwise, and that this coming year, 2009 version in 2010, would absolutely be the last for TRX to distribute TAxwise. But I went ahead with Taxwise
anyway, and haven't bothered to inform TRX of my decision. Of course haven't receive any softwre from TRX either. they probably got the word I'm thinking. What renewal price I'll have to pay next June, Lord only knows.

To sum up then, If you stay with TRX, you might as well get their generic software.
OR if you like Taxwise, call them and ask for same deal I got; free.

In any event, please post here or send me email on what you do.

Oh, Taxwise software arrived Monday and it's already installed home and office. And it works well. AND.. they now have their own Community bulletin board. It's about time.

with taxwise software for 2009. I have been with taxwise for five years. Went with
TRX for taxwise software for 2009. They will not give me my money back but I can
have trx software instead. I called taxwise. Taxwise sends out the software not TRX.
Taxwise says that TRX cannot sell to taxwise customers, taxwise will not honor those
sales. I was told I would have to renew with taxwise. TRX say I am out the $300. if I
do not take their software. Who did you talk to at taxwise to get them to send you the

Anyway, believe it or not, it was Taxwise who called to inform me of what was happening, and this was about a month ago, give or take three weeks. And it was she (whatever her name is) who said there would be no cost to me since they would honor the TRX contract.

Lo and behold, just about 30 minutes ago, a fellow from TRX called to let me know what
was going on, just what you said above.

I imagine you'll just have to deal with sales department at Taxwise, and tell them that you know the deal another user got with them, but do NOT mention my name.

In the meantime, I'll be trying to remember the person's name and if so, will send you
email with it.

Sounds like a real problem dealing with that company. Your software is the essence of your tax prep business. Why take chances?

Exactly right. They no longer have access to be a wholesaler of Taxwise.

Next year I will have to go to CCH and pay them triple what I paid this year If I can not find a different reseller of taxwise.There are several people who in the past have resold taxwise.I bought it last year from a different reseller.

I received Taxwise and the new TRX program. Both loaded with no problems at all. I found that I liked both programs and decided to go with the TRX-Pro1040. I have not received it yet, but should next week. I had no problems with either program when I did tax returns for 2008 to test the software. I used TRX last year. I had no problems with it,except of my own making. I have a good friend that works for Liberty. He told me that Taxwise was the software they used until they developed their own in house software. Like you , I switch from ATX . This year , I switch back.
