My client is an active options trader, with about 100 trades this year. I've always listed each transaction on D and D-1. He asked if we could just attach a copy of he statement from his Fidelity brokerage account, which seems pretty complete. Instructions for Sched D say no, but a friend told me IRS has changed that guidance. Anyone know anything solid to back up that statement, or do I tell client we have to list everything?

Sch D
I have a client this year that had approximately 5000 trades. I will NOT be listing these individually. Instead, I will use the "see attachment" on the D and attach the complete statements.
I assume this return will have to be paper instead of e-file. If permissible, I'd like to e-file and attach the documents to the 8453.
Paper or e-file?
Thanks, Dennis
