    New Office!

So I am making the big move from home office to regular commericial office. Does anyone have any advise on how to market and what works in their area. We got really lucky and this space has a sign out in front so that is a big help.

Has anyone made a move like this and if so how long has it taken to notice an increase in their business? Is it something you can see within one season or does it take longer?

    Thanks for your imput.

Going with a store front, you should double your client count the first year, but many will be simple returns and EIC types. It will be worth it because over the next 5 years you should be over 400 returns. Your mix will grow into a medium size type returns.

Your move will be good but will require alot of time out of your house because now you are the same as a retail store.................

      Store front

Try your local paper's business editor, they sometimes will give you a free plug. Do you belong to the chamber of commerce, announce your new location with them....make sure your office is funished nicely and the environment is pleasing to the eye. In the end it will be word of mouth, so make sure each customer receives your total attention.

Good luck, hope you remember how to get home.

Depending on the location if you think you will see EIC clients I recommend offering bank products.Personally I do not like them but 80% of my storefront business is bank products.

          Neighbors

Introduce yourself to your commercial neighbors, maybe taking donuts or other niceties. Let them know what you do and ask to leave brochures, business cards, etc.

            Sign

I heard once that a business with no sign is a sign of no business. I believe that's about right. I'm certain that my sign has been the second biggest factor in gaining clients. The biggest gain has come from referrals from existing clients.

Here's another idea: When I was trying to attract clients (I'm not now, I would like to lose a few), I would put a little advertisement (hand made, with a cute graphic) in the envelopes of all the W-2's and 1099's I prepared.
If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
