I am looking at a quote for symbol: KMP. I see yahoo list the "EPS" at 1.14 ($1.14). Under "Div & Yield" it has 4.20 (7.70%)....actually the 4.20 is really $4.20, the dividend amt paid on each share per year and correct me if I am wrong but the EPS is also quoted on an annual basis. So is the $1.14 EPS calculated "after" the Div of $4.20 is paid OR before the Div of $4.20 is paid out?

Both are annual numbers. Kinder Morgan is a pipeline company so EPS don't necessarily have to cover the dividend. They are somewhat like a REIT where funds from operations can be a more relavent number when looking at the company.Last edited by DaveO; 10-08-2009, 10:20 AM.In other words, a democratic government is the only one in which those who vote for a tax can escape the obligation to pay it.

Payment of dividends is a whole 'nother ballgame and is at the discretion of the board of
