    They do put you in prison for avoiding tax.

    Kenneth and Dorothy Anderson, who had not filed federal tax returns since 1987, were each sentenced to more than one year in prison.

    Gene, Good article. However, a picky technical point. They did not get into trouble for avoiding tax - They got into trouble for not filing. As you well know, the IRS wants their paperwork. It may cost you more for not filing than for not paying.

    Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".
