    Taxpayer is citizen of France & spouse is US citizen. Both lived & worked in Chile until June 2008, when they moved to US. Taxpayer got green card in June, so he satisfies the green card test. In US over 183 days in 2008, so he satisfies the substantial presence test for US. If they elect to file joint, does he file a 2555 for income earned during time in Chile? I'm trying to read Pub 519 & the instructions to the 2555 at the same time and am beccoming confused.
