    Off topic

I recently had a picture pop up on my computer. A man, big letters HACKED, and music. Unfortunately I didn't read anything. I was so upset that I shut down the computer as soon as possible, ran a scan. An IT person said it was probably an ad.

There have been only 3 different things that happened lately. I put on Skype. I tried to find the hotmail support and ended up asking a question where they wanted to charge me and I then ignored them. The last thing was when pulling down the bar on the right hand side of the hotmail screen I accidentally clicked on an ad - I don't know what the ad was.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Does anyone know how to get in touch with hotmail support - is there a phone number?

    When the picture came up,

what site were you trying to access? I've had this happen, but was told the site I was accessing was the issue, not my PC.

"Congress has spoken to this issue through its audible silence."
Anyone ever notice they beat the daylights out of the definition of a child, but they don't spend much time at all defining "parent"?

I was in hotmail and may or may not have logged out at the time. I can't remember. But I know I hadn't gone to any other sites. I wish I could remember exactly,

        Same Image

Actually, JG, I had the exact same image. A man's face, with a black background, wearing a mobster hat apparel and big letters spelling out HACKED! across the picture.

I was trying to access The Tax Book. TTB Home page came up for a split second before this image took over the screen. Happened around 8:15 to 8:30 A.M. yesterday on 09/09/09.

I then tried to access TTB under a different browser. Same results, i.e. this image simply "took over."

I just had that happen on a client's computer yesterday, while I googled for a website I always use in my office, then clicked on it and ended up with the hacker guy. I immediately closed the browser.

            Oh my goodness.
Gretel, it looks like you did the same as I did and close quickly.
Nashville, did you read it to see if it was in fact an ad?

How would we know if someone really did hack in? How long does it take for them to get information?

              Doubt you were hacked

I seriously doubt that you were actually hacked. If you were, they don't want you to know so would not configure it to have something pop up and say hacked. They don't want you knowing what they are doing.
