You know I would like to be there, but you'll have to find another local guide. (grin

However.... look for Jerry. I think he plans to attend.

Next May, however, I'll be in Asheville.

      Likewise

Greensboro is a couple hours away for me as well, and can't plan a mini-vacation at this time.

Wish some of the meetings were more local

The best thing about Greensboro is its proximity to Lexington - lots of places there to get good barbecue.

          Charlotte in December

Not in NAEA, so not going to one in NC because so much of NAEA is state-oriented.

However, evaluating going to my first "advanced" course in Charlotte Dec 2 & 3 hosted by North Carolina St Univ. I have been going to their "intermediate" course for years in Asheville the Monday/Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and will be going again this year on Nov 30 and Dec 1.

Most University courses are less appealing than exciting hosts like Bob Jennings and others. However, NC State has a guy named Guido Van der Hoeven who is excellent. He is good enough to be invited to direct seminars all over the Southeast.

I would enjoy meeting some of our NC family at these. Dyne is from Rock Hill, SC and only 15 minutes from Charlotte. Sandy is at most a couple hours away, not sure about Jeanie's location.

Well now, you don't have to be a member of NAEA to attend state seminars. Even lawyers are welcomed!

Seriously though, next May in Asheville, I'm hoping to see ST there, along with John H and erchess, and if he will come east, Snaggletooth. And Jeannie of course along with other EA's from other states. We all had a good time in Charleston last May.

              You tell 'em Chears

---but if you aren't a member, I bet Harlan could talk you into it.
Greensboro is futher than I want to travel also right now. I am near the coast of NC --- SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I have to travel to go anywhere.
I have not heard from Jerry - Is he still trying to calm the gossip of Charleston?

Hey John, I myself do not care for barbeque (unless it's a rib) but Eastern NC is know for great Barbeque.

Hey Snagggle - I have taken a few courses taught by Guido Van der Hoevan. He is a great guy. I saw the NC State classes listed - I just don't want to go to Asheville in late Nov.
              I'll go in May 2010.

Jeannie, the board allows you to be private about your town, but I'll have to confess I spent some 90 days in Elizabeth City, in Pasquotank County. The rivers there are estuarial, becoming very wide and shallow at their mouth. So wide that the shores can be slightly tidal with the ocean.

Many times I enter North Carolina from its westernmost point, from CopperHill, TN on U.S. 64. The entry is through a gorgeous place called Angelico Gap. Almost immediately there is a sign that proclaims: Nags Head 664 miles. If you live in the coastal area, I am probably closer than you are to Asheville even coming from Middle TN.

For anyone caring to read a diversion, Nags Head got its name from the treacherous coastline on North Carolina's outer banks. Pirates would hang a lantern from a horses neck, in order to lure ships to shore, where they would almost certainly shipwreck. The pirates would be safely moored in one of the few safe places and loot the ship before sailing away.

Asheville in May does sound enticing. Maybe you and Harlan can work on me after tax season next year.

Is that a challenge? If so, let the GAMES begin! (grin)

Besides, I owe you a drink, Ron. (NOT a referral fee)

...................... and being a great tour guide.
Yeah, Eliz City has lots of scenery. I'm just across the Albemarle Sound from there.
NC is a very wide state. I drove to TN last October - beautiful fall colors.

NC really is a true "Variety Vacationland".

They should go back to that motto on the license plates.
It's much more relevant & informative than "First in Flight".
