Commercial building contractor, a C-corp, wants to get into Armed Protective Services business and work on City, State, and Federal Government contracts.
Corporation does NOT want to physically move and leave their existing commercial base. But logistically corporation would enhance their bidding posture for security contracts if they were to open a new office in another state, and operate in that state as a foreign corporation.
Obviously, the corporation wishes to have two operating divisions, which is fine. Question is, however, may they apply for and operate under two FEIN numbers? (They want to operate two separate payrolls).
I don't think so without creating a subsidiary corporation/LLC, but I would like to know what others think.
