2007 form 1096

I need to issue a late 1099 MISC Form and 1096 Transmittal for year 2007. I have the 2007 1099 Misc forms but I do not have a form 1096 Transmittal.

IRS site no longer has the 2007 Transmittals available. (Red Copies)

If you can use them, I have plenty of '08. Cross out '08 and put in '07??

Off the internet

Well I found one from the IRS site IRS.gov (says do not download, print and file Copy A with the IRS) and then goes on to say that there is a penalty of $50 per information return may be imposed for filing copies of forms that cannot be scanned)

I have printed the form on my color printer and it appears to be similar to my 2008 stock that I had ordered.

Do you suppose I can use the form that I printed (Red Ink)?

I just want to say thank you to everyone for looking for the forms - Can't believe I didn't have any from 2007.
