    High Speed Internet Question

I have a home office but during the tax season, I rent space about 6 blocks from my home. I see the need of having high speed internet, at least at the house. My understanding of high speed internet is that it is "hard wired" in. I need to electronically file my tax returns from the tax office. How would you handle this? I'm a little puzzled.

High speed DSL can be wireless and usually is. No problem, either way.

      High Speed internet

Do you have 2 E-FINS you must file return from the address of the e-fin? I had to get another E-fin for a store front office I used only during tax season.

          Get a Laptop

The IRS told me that they can't tell where I Efile from if I use the same computer in different places. I am mobile and if my client can conveniently let me use their internet connection to file their return that is what I do.

Well you could get DSL if you have a land line at the store front. Get it for use during the tax season and then have them turn it off afterwards.

You could get something like Verizon Mobile Wireless like people use on their laptops and hook into verizon for a internet connection.

Depending on where you are at you might can find a free wireless network to log into. If not, 6 blocks is what 6 miles? I was going to suggest setting up a wireless network at your home and buy a high gain 15lb antenna. I have that setup but my office is walking distance from my house. The bigger the antenna you get the better reception.

I also rent space in a real estate office for the 4 months and I use their DSL to file my returns electronically. During the off season I use the home office DSL. No problem so far. My home office is the address I use on my returns
Everybody should pay his income tax with a smile. I tried it, but they wanted cash

I understand that DSL is not available in our area. This sound right?

2 EFIN's? I transmit about 99.5% from my tax office.

                  In Minneapolis?

If you are in Minneapolis, you should have access to DSL or high speed internet of any kind, either through cable company or telephone company especially.

                    Internet service

I just called my TV cable company and they sent a technician out. He hooked up a gadget box to my computer and we were up and runnin'. I didn't know beans about it either, but, turns out I didn't have to.

Due to their nature free networks tend to be insecure.

Yes I know if you stay connected to it constantly but a person could only connect when they needed it to transmit files. Then disable the wireless network connection when finished.

                          if you have a smartphone

you can typically use them as a high speed modem through your cellular provider. I filed a few returns this way last season through my Blackberry. Bonus: when I accidentially pushed "transmit" on a return that wasn't finished, I was able to just yank the cord from the phone. The speed was actually pretty good otherwise, and it was pretty inexpensive, I think $30/month, and I just had them put it on the plan from March through 4/15 and then take it off.

Anyone ever notice they beat the daylights out of the definition of a child, but they don't spend much time at all defining "parent"?
