    Have you heard that

TRX has been acquired by CCH? Is there any truth to this rumor posted on the unofficial ATX Message Board?.

I sure hope not. I just switched from Taxwise to TRX (taxwise really).

I don't have access to a phone atm but above is the number for TRX. Chief you saw the rumor posted and we didn't. Why don't you call TRX and fluster the poor peon who answers the phone?

Here is the quote: "This is off-the-cuff, but I can't help but wonder if CCH has aquired TRX or is in the process of doing so. (Maybe a shotgun wedding of some sort?)"

        I wouldn't call this a rumor, more of a "I hope not."

That is really strange, because they are now reselling Tax Works. Oh, the web out there is sticky!

I was the one who posed the "shotgun wedding" comment over on the Unofficial ATX forum. It was an idle speculation based on the odd interactions being reported by others. Personally I don't have a dog in the fight because IF I STAY with ATX/CCH, then I'll be buying directly from them, but that decision won't be made until Dec or Jan. I'm not interested in TRX.

One thing is clear - the CCH people are initiating some unusual contacts which seem to be contradicting various things that people claim that they were told by TRX with respect to support of the product. To me, this has the look & feel of a transition of some sort, probably initiated by some marketing genius/control freak who doesn't know (or doesn't care) that he's upsetting his customer base. After all, "we've already got their rmoney so what are they going to do?"

Conflicting information, unstable assurances, people reading scripts to answer simple questions, preemptive contacts with no clear purpose beyond unnerving loyal customers - there's either a power struggle or some sort of change in the wind causing corporate confusion. Marketing geniuses at rapidly expanding companies always fascinate me. The are capable of achieving astonishing feats of stupidity, so my antenna goes up when I see something that has the look & feel of a marketing genius running amok.
