    1040x

Hey folks looks like a refund on a Form 1040X, cannot be Direct Deposited. If it can be how do we notify the IRS of such? I don't see anything on the Form.

    Thanks

      Not sure

If you will remember stimulus payments got direct deposited if previous return had gotten a refund with direct deposit. Perhaps 10040X works the same way but I don't know.

Well MLINDER says it can't and has been reliable in the past so I am inclined to trust what he or she says. Anyone disagree?

        No

At the federal level, it requires electronic filing to get a direct deposit; no e-filing for Form 1040X, so no DD. However, your state might allow direct deposit of a refund from an amendment.

          See TTB 1040 Edition 3-10

Sure looks to me as though a paper 1040 can get DD though of course this has nothing to do with original post.

Agreed, a paper original return can be direct deposited. A 1040-X cannot be. So the issue isn't whether it's filed on paper or electronic, it simply isn't supported with the 1040-X.

              You're right...

Now that I look at the lines on a paper return, I see the provision for DD. Oh well, think I had federal and CT backwards. But, still no provision on the Form 1040X
