    TRX something new

I just got a call from TRX Alliance inviting me to visit their booth at the Las Vegas Tax Forum. I did not go with them this year, they said they had a new program to present at the Forum, could not tell me anything about it. I am unable to go to the Forum this year. If anyone finds out what they are up to let please post it here. There is nothing on their web site yet.

When they were posting quite regularly on the ATX Community board, they indicated that they were writing their own tax program. That is probably what they will be unveiling at the Las Vegas forum.

I went with them this year for my ATX software and I just hope and pray that they will be able to deliver. I love the concept of being in a tax practitioner co-op and I hope that that concept continues.

That's what I heard also. I have gone with them for Taxwise. I hope they are not planning on delivery of their own software instead.

        Contacts

If anyone has ever signed with TRX, left them, and gotten them to stop contacting you about renewing I would like to know how you did it. I am thinking of the drastic step of having my attorney send a cease and desist letter. I was with them in 2007 doing 2006 returns and they still pursue me with emails and phone calls from sales people who at least pretend to think I was with them the previous year.

I am turned off by this persistence but I still would have demoed their version of ATX and was not interested in Taxwise. I have by the way once again cast my lot with Drake and they will have to do something seriously wrong in order for me to demo other software. I prefer forms based software to spreadsheet based but I place a higher priority on cost (max I would consider is $1K and I must have everything the company offers including free efiling) and on availability of forms and features.

Just ask them to put you on their do not call list. That should be all you need to do.

            Beta

I think I read that their own software should be in beta testing for this coming tax season and might be offered free to those who belong to their coop/purchase Taxwise or ATX via them. Check out the ATXCommunity site for their TRX forum.

By the way, the actual TRX forum at http://community.trxpro.com/ has been down for about a month now. Their support site at https://www.trxprotwsupport.com/ is still operational with TaxWise federal and all states for 2008 and previous years, although they have removed the 2008 demo copy of AT*.

                ATXCommunity.com

The ATXCommunity.com message board is a user-run board and not an official ATX site, so the ATX forum and the TRX forum and any other forum on it will NOT be the company line but actual users posting their experiences and questions and helping each other with tax issues as well as software issues. The TRX forum, however, did have some visits from company employees clarifying some rumors. Even so, you definitely will get responses from real tax preparers shooting straight from the hip.

                  waitng to see

I spoke with Karen at TRX almost a month ago. She promised me that after the first of July they would have something else to offer besides Taxwise and ATX for those that got in on the few copies they had to sell.
I went with them around the end of April and was told I could have either Taxwise or ATX, was sent demos of each. BUT the ATX demo wouldn't work because it was no longer available. They won't refund my money.
She has PROMISED I will be happy with what they are coming out with. So I guess I will call her Tuesday and see what she has to say.
I am not going to an IRS Forum this year so I can't get the info there.
