    What is the juirsprudence of...

having clients sign Forms 8879 with regard to an "original" signature that may be faxed or mailed to practicing tax preparers? I have been told that you have to have an original signature on file for Forms 8879 before the tax return can be electronically filed. Or is this only for mailed in, non-electronic returns?

If any one knows better than me, please expound; I would appreciate a comment about this.

    Thanks.

    rfk,

It's my understanding that a faxed, emailed, or otherwise signature is acceptable. We do not have to have anything more than that.
