My Taxwise quote for renewal would have meant an increase of 64%!~ Yes, that's
sixty four percent over last year's cost. This was not acceptable. Main reason was
Taxwise getting out of the Direct filing with IRS business and making all of us use their
service bureau, whereby my efiling fees would have been a bundle.

So we talk. They have another "pro filing" offer, but that, too, would have resulting in
total costs of 1,671 next year, based on this year's numbers of course.
Still that would have been an increase of 18%. Heck. We are in a RECESSION!

Two choices with TRX. 299$ or 699$, the only advantage being that the latter gave
efiling for business returns. But with only 8 entity returns these days, I can go with paper
easily I think. PLUS..... the fact that it's still TAxwise, and based on experience last two years, means that I can't file Alabama 1120S returns until... uNTIL... March14th! Yes,
you heard me right. That's pushing it a bit.

So I called today, confirmed that efiling is still to Rome, GA, home of TAxwise, and
since it's still genuine Taxwise software, there are no conversion problems; can still
            rollover last year's data.

            I'm a happy camper tonight.

            Do you agree, OceanlovinEA?

I paid $1100 for Taxwise last year with another reseller.I had the Plus program I did 2 entities
so I went with the cheaper one.I also discussed the office I run for some one else where we do 2000 returns and 1450 bank products they offered twice the rebate we will receive this year direct from Taxwise for the bank products.

I switched over to Drake for next year. Got a call yesterday from Taxwise asking about my renewal. I told the lady that I switched to Drake. Only thing she said was to let them know if I changed my mind and thank you for your business. No discussions on why I changed or how they could keep me. So I guess my $1,200 bucks isn't worth much to them. Drake is going to be a big switch for me but I plan on doing their training and I hope it won't be too bad next year. If so I hope TRX will still be able to offer their Taxwise version as a alternative. Nice to see they unlimited efile since I have had to pay for it with main Taxwise.

Back in May I called to renew with TRX and was informed that they were in negotiations with Drake at that point to offer their software. As I've heard nothing further on the subject, it probably fell apart for the year. I was told that TRX is interested in diversifying to multiple tax programs to eliminate part of what happened with the Intellitax meltdown. You might want to check with TRX next year to see if anything has developed before renewing with Drake.

I have used Drake for years, yes it will be a change, but worth it. I have been extremely happy with their support, they answer the phone within 3 rings, with a live person, and are really good. They also have a Forum, and there is a lot of help and suggestions there. Have fun.

I've done one "real" return in Drake. I really did not have any problems with entry. Just a different way of doing things is all. I really like all the extras that come with the program also. I've talked to their support and the did seem like they knew what they were doing... or would find out.
